NMR spectrometers have a very strong, large, liquid, helium-cooled superconducting magnet. If a coolant leak occurs, the helium can displace Oxygen (O2) in the environment, creating a dangerous situation for the people in the room leading to potential, and possibly fatal, oxygen deficiency.
